Build Biodiversity with Backyard Pollinators

Tuesday, June 146:30—7:30 PMMeeting RoomNorwell Public Library64 South Street, Norwell, MA, 02061

More than just the buzz: Using ecological data to restore native pollination systems (and why it matters)

In sponsorship with Norwell Farms and funded by the Norwell Cultural Council, please join us for a presentation by Dr. Robert Gegear as he discusses his work on the Beecology Citizen Science Project which has helped gain insight into the causes of species loss from long-tongued bee and butterfly pollination systems native to New England. He will also hightlight the ‘eco-technology’ that has been developed to aid Beecologists in the collection of species interaction data, including the launch of a new version of the webapp with automated butterfly and plant ID functions powered by iNaturalist in Spring 2022. His talk will conclude with an overview of how citizen scientists have been using Beecology data to significantly advance biodiversity restoration efforts in Massachusetts over the past 3 years.
