The New England Aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals, from the giant Pacific octopus to Northern fur seals to little blue penguins. They offer a wide range of exhibits, including a shark and ray touch tank and the Giant Ocean Tank, a four-story coral reef featuring hundreds of Caribbean animals. In addition, they have an IMAX theatre and run whale watch boat excursions in partnership with Boston Harbor Cruises from April through November.

Pass Benefits

Library pass holders no longer need to make advance reservations. Tickets cannot be pre-purchased online nor over the phone. The original, dated coupon must be presented at the Aquarium Box Office (“General Admission” line) at the time of the visit. Library pass holders will be granted immediate entry after purchasing discounted tickets, even if the Aquarium is sold out to the general public at that time.

Starting September 1, 2023 patrons who do not have an original dated coupon will not receive the discount. Coupons must be picked up in person at the Norwell Public Library.

Each coupon admits up to 4 people for a 50% off reduction from the regular admission rate, per person. Coupon only applies to adult and child rates. Reduced-rate admission payment must be paid at the Aquarium Box Office to gain entry. Children under the age of 3 are not included in the admission count and are always admitted free. Library coupons may not be used in conjunction with school or group visits, nor be applied toward Aquarium programs, Simons Theatre tickets, Whale Watch tickets, or combination tickets.

Library coupons or tickets obtained with library coupons may not be sold.

The Peabody Essex Museum grew out of the collection of East India Marine Society, an organization of Salem captains whose charter called for acquisition of “natural and artificial curiosities.” Its permanent collection contains art and artifacts of Africa, Asia, India, China (with a Qing Dynasty house brought from the Huizhou region), Japan, Korea, Pacific Islands, and features objects of maritime art and history that include paintings, drawings, ship models, marine decorative arts, tools, weapons, navigational instruments, and ship and yacht plans. It also has a thriving changing exhibition schedule that sometimes includes important traveling shows.

Pass Benefits

Patrons must first reserve their PEM library pass with NPL and then log into the PEM ticket page to reserve a date and time to visit PEM. Visit pem.org/tickets, enter the promo code LIB271118 and then they select their discounted admission tickets.  

 Each pass admits a maximum of two adult visitors at a reduced admission fee of $12 per person. Children under age 16 are admitted free. Admission to Yin Yu Tang, the Chinese House, and special ticketed exhibitions require the pass holder to pay a separate fee.

The museum, a part of the Boston National Historical Park, is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard near the ship USS Constitution (“Old Ironsides”) at the end of Boston’s Freedom Trail. The museum provides a detailed look at the history of the ship, information about the war of 1812, and the battle between the ship and HMS Java. Stories are told through interactive exhibits, unique artifacts, archival records, and artwork. The museum also includes a research library which houses a strong collection of manuscripts, books, artifacts, and microfilm of primary source material. The ship itself is maintained by the US Navy, and may be visited free of charge on certain days.

Pass Benefits

This pass admits parties of up to 9 to the USS Constitution Museum. This pass needs to be returned to the library. During school vacations, passes are limited to Norwell residents and only 1 pass per family during that vacation time.
